Treatment for ED and low testosterone

Could it be erectile dysfunction?

The most common symptom is erections that do not last as long.

In more severe cases, the psychological pressure to finish quickly can lead to secondary premature ejaculation.

Causes of erectile dysfunction

Arterial problems:
Atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes
Erectile tissue problems:
Damage to the lining of the erectile tissue, diabetes, damage to the tunica albuginea
Hormonal problems:
Testes, pituitary gland, thyroid, aging
Psychological causes:
Stress, depression
Nerve problems:
Diabetes, herniated disc, stroke, injury
Systemic conditions:
Atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol
Medications:
Blood pressure and psychiatric medications

Treating erectile dysfunction

01 Oral medication

The first option used for mild, early symptoms of erectile dysfunction

02 Penile injections

A self-injection treatment used when oral medication does not work, or when weaker erections and premature ejaculation occur together

03 Physical therapy

A treatment that applies physical stimulation to the penis to support erectile tissue regeneration and new blood vessel growth, aiming to help erections by addressing the underlying cause

04 Testosterone therapy

Used as a supporting treatment. It can help improve erections, reduce fatigue and belly fat, increase bone density and boost energy.

Symptoms of low testosterone

Checking your symptoms is the first step toward treatment.

Sexual symptoms

  • Lower sex drive
  • Fewer morning erections
  • Erectile dysfunction

Weight-related symptoms

  • Abdominal (visceral) fat

Metabolic symptoms

  • Metabolic syndrome
  • Type 2 diabetes

Psychological symptoms

  • Mood changes (such as fatigue and anger)

Testosterone injections

Treatment for low testosterone replaces the male hormone the body is lacking.

Testosterone therapy can cause serious unwanted reactions in patients with prostate cancer or cardiovascular disease, or with generalized swelling (edema), sleep apnea or severe urinary symptoms. Treatment must always begin after a consultation.

Jenasteron injection (testosterone enanthate)

Dosing: intramuscular injection every 2–3 weeks

Nebido injection (testosterone undecanoate)
